The Newsletter of Central Suffolk Breeders Incorporated- July 2004
WHEN: 14th July
WHERE: Kiwitea property of Margaret and Richard Brown
TIME: 1.30pm but please have sheep penned by 1.15pm
The purpose of the field day is to offer farmers the opportunity to preview our top ram hoggets prior to sale time. Therefore, we again invite all members to bring their two top ram hoggets to this field day. The field day offers club members the opportunity to display their animals to potential buyers, compare their animals with other breeders’ animals, and it is also an opportunity for members to catch up with and socialise with other club members.
With some many opportunities on offer you can’t afford not to be there!!
But as with all club activities, they are only successful if members make the effort to participate. So we ask all members to try and bring animals and if unable to do this, at least to show your support by attending.
In line with our club’s strategic goal to be pro-active with putting our sheep in front of potential ram buyers, our club took the bold move last year and held our first flock ram fair. The purpose of the sale was to attract clients who are currently buying rams other than Suffolks. We learnt a lot from this experience and feel that for a first sale we attained the level of success we had and expected. We have now decided to take what we learnt and apply it to another, hopefully bigger and better sale this year.
Proposed Sale Conditions: (still to be confirmed)
Confirmed details will follow at a later date.
Once again we are able to offer you, for the price of $30 the opportunity to be part of the Central Suffolk website. Our website is gradually building up its reputation. Over the past year, interest in purchasing rams and ewes through the site has increased. To ensure we are selling smartly, we recommend that when selling through site you ask for market value plus a premium of $50 for both ewes and rams whatever time of year.
To be part of the website all you have to do is write down on a piece of paper what you would like to put on the website and send this to Andy Sims with a couple of photographs if you have them (he even has a outline of what you can put in if you want that).

Yours subs are used mainly to fund club activities and advertising so they are very important to us. Please find attached an invoice. Payment is due to the Treasurer by the end of July..
